You'll learn the skills and techniques with guidance and critiques from industry veterans and have the chance to display your work to the thousands of National Space Centre visitors.

Immersive Design & Development Qualification

This is a joint venture between Leicester College and the National Space Centre and will take place across both campuses from Sept 2021. 16-18 year olds joining this BTEC Diploma Level 3 course will have access to cutting-edge technology and workflows to craft digital environments and experiences in virtual, augmented and mixed reality.

The NSC Immersive Academy will be running virtual and in-person workshops for young people throughout 2020-21 to experiment and explore the latest technologies.

NSC Reality Lab

A key component of what makes the NSC Immersive Academy unique is a new Reality Lab situated at the National Space Centre. This space is kitted out with the latest XR Technology to democratise access to leading-edge hardware and software to empower users to experiment and think big.

The creation of the NSC Immersive Academy and Reality Lab is supported by the Inspiring Science Fund.

A partnership between the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and Wellcome, as well as the Local Growth Fund from Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, The Garfield Weston Foundation and Fidelity UK.
