Immersive Design and Development
BTEC Level 3 National Diploma
This is a joint venture between Leicester College and the National Space Centre and will take place across both campuses.
Joining this course would give you access to cutting edge technology and workflows to craft digital environments and experiences in virtual, augmented and mixed reality. Learning game engine programming, XR design, 3D modelling and projection mapping for domes. You’ll develop a wealth of experience across the full field of immersive media development. You’ll learn the skills and techniques with guidance and critiques from industry veterans and have the chance to display your work to the thousands of National Space Centre visitors.
Unique opportunity to work alongside industry professionals 1 day each week as a work experience student
Create content that will be experienced by the National Space Centre visitors
Experiment with cutting edge immersive equipment
Acquire skills that will allow you to progress into the creative media industry or higher education across a range of subjects including gaming, animation, vfx and programming
Gain access to a growth industry with many new exciting opportunities
If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled on a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in maths if you haven’t already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience placement and an employability programme.
